Proposal draft 1 part 1

This is the overlook at what I'm proposing to explore, why, how and general first notes on the new project.

1)Project Summary

The project explores the ideas of gender, gender roles through role playing, performing the situations from photographs taken by other artists or photographs of other artists.
Photographs chosen for re photographing are all of females.
Play on the and femininity and masculinity by using male form(me) to re-act.

At this stage it still reads very broad and will be redefined and narrowed down as it progresses.

2) Genres and Key Words

1. documentary, portraiture, archiving a performance
2. performance
3. gender
4. body image
5. representation
6. identity

From how I imagine this project so far this are my key interests but it is probable that some will take the main stage and others will fade a little or even be completely dismissed.

3) Project Title

the first working title I called it (cause it needs a name even if only for practical reasons of cataloging shoots and images) was

self portrait as...

And the way I see it is that every single image will be called after the "original" work of art, the woman in the image etc.
So for example I restated this photograph of Susan Sontag by Annie Leibovitz (see visual diary).

So my images will be called / will be read as:

self portrait as... Susan Sontag by Annie Leibovitz

or

self portrait as... Susan Sontag after Annie Leibovitz

Think this gives credit to both photographer and the subject (this might actually prove a bit tricky later on...)

But then I was thinking about the idea of self portrait and what I'm proposing to make / create are not exactly self portrait and by calling them self portrait I might confuse readers or maybe point them in the wrong direction. So my second working title is:

identity in flux

which suggest the work is more about the identity (and not shallow / one dimensional self portraits)
it also suggest instability, continuous change and fluidity which probably relates closer to the idea of this project
